I was just at dinner at a friends house and the funniest thing happened. I have changed the names to protect the innocent  Here's what happened:
Aisha: I've been using this awesome shampoo and it smells like jasmine.
Minnah goes to her room and comes out with a small gift bag: Oh does it smell like this?
Aisha: Yeah! That's the one...where did you get it? Lush?
Minnah: No, Noreen gave it to me the last time I saw her.
Aisha: What? I gave her the same shampoo for her birthday in this same colour.
Me: Oh, she must have loved it so much that she decided to go buy Minnah the same thing.
Minnah: Um, I don't think so because when Noreen gave it to me, it was sort of like an after thought. She just handed it to me in this bag and said she'd got me this.
Me: Did the plastic look all old like this?
Minnah: Yeah...it looked like it had been in her purse for a while.
Aisha: I swear this is the same thing I gave her...even the ribbon looks the same. Oh my gosh, I can't believe she regifted my present...hahahahahaha! How terrible to be caught!
So....confess, have any of you regifted? It's one of my biggest pet peeves...

Ha! Kaycee, that's funny. I don't normally re-gift. If I do receive a gift which I don't like, I will usually offer it to someone else, explain that it's a gift but no longer suits my needs etc.
Or, I just donate it to charity.
I guess the only time I don't mind when it's regifted is if its someones favourite book, or CD, or is an antique or family heirloom. |

I do it quite a lot
I've got 30 kids in my class, tomorrow morning I'll get 30 Christmas presents, well maybe not 30 bcs a few of them don't maybe bcs the parents don't agree with giving teachers presents on principle, fair enough...
But I'll get probably about 25 presents, usually stuff like chocolates or flowers or candles, so I usually pass some of them on to other people, not as actual presents but just as little extras (sometimes if it's my sister or my daughter or somebody like that, I'll tell them why they're getting the little extra  ) but it's quite handy to have a little stash of things like that over Christmas 8) but you can only eat so many chocolates and I've only got so many vases...
Sometimes I get things like ornaments, I take them to the charity shop if I really don't like them, only I can't take them to any nearby charity shops in case somebody recognises them  |

HAHAHAHAHA! Moll, FOr trevors teacher this year I got her some personalized stationary! SHe cant regift it :D
Seriously, I was trying to find something that was unique for her. She has helped my wee boy through a rough patch & I wanted to show her how much it ment. I know she adores lighthouses, so I sought out a stationary shop on line & had her name printed on them.
I give it to her tomorrow, or rather Trevor does, I hope she likes it! :) |

KayCee, I'm sure she'll LOVE it!
Guess what, I got regifted today :smt003
I got a very nice box of Lancome perfume and body lotion and stuff, I said oh thank you sooooo much, Emma! and she said, Somebody gave it to my mum and she doesn't like it :smt043
I know giving presents to teachers at Christmas is like giving the paper boy something, it's just a kind of thing that people do.......but what I really treasure are all the little letters I get, saying things like Mrs W, you are the coolist techer on the planit, or Mrs W, I niver wont to leev yor class, things that they write when it's NOT Christmas, I keep all of them 8) even though I know they've probably said that to their last teacher and they'll probably say it to their next teacher......
Anyway I am on holiday now |
