I'm listening to this CD that I just bought called Niyaz...it's three people (who normally work solo) who've come together to make this CD.
The music is based on poetry written by Rumi and other sufi poets, and the language moves from Urdu to Persian.
Azam Ali's voice is absolutely stunning, and the old tabla style music fused with electronica is actually a surprisingly good mix.
In Canada, this music is not marketed under Nasheeds but electronica and club mix (very odd with the topic of the words used ie. Allahi Allah etc.)...but it makes sense with some of the background beats they use. |
