I was standing in a queue at a till when the 2 minutes silence started.......they turned off the music in the shop and everybody stood still and quiet, except there was a screaming baby behind me, and then this old granny started talking to the baby, saying daft things like, You're too handsome to be crying :roll: She didn't seem to have noticed the sign that said, There will be a 2 minute silence at 12noon to remember the victims of the London bombings, or to have noticed that it had gone all quiet :roll:

Half of me felt like glaring at her and pointing out the notice, the other half wondered what the point of it all was.....

People are being killed all over the world, every minute of every day, people who AREN'T remembered except by their relatives and friends, people just as innocent as those who were killed in the London bombings :(

I don't really know what purpose it serves, it happened, and people remember it happened....but it doesn't bring them back, it doesn't help people to move on, it just re-ignites all the feelings of that day and brings them back into focus :( It's not going to prevent it happening again......what purpose does it have?

i understand what you mean.

i suppose its just our way of showing respect for the people that lost there lives.

what makes it worse is that the terrorists were citizens excepted into our society.

they killed there own! they want to profit & prosper from our way of life, but condem its fellow citizens.

I DONT agree that for a moment,what you are saying is that 'these people,i assume you mean non whites/muslims have a hatred towards their fellow citizens,i actually resent the generalisation of this terminology,i abhor this kind of racial/secreterian kind of speech,not all'These people' are terrorist after all didnt blair & bush invade and still occupy other countries,but you cannot say all americans&brits are warmongers,can you,eh??Onother thing i would like to make clear,that these thugs who use violence as a means to an end are nothing but human vermin,whether they are westerners,white,coloured,muslims,christian etc,etc,however they are few.so lets not get carried away with emotions.

I don't really know why, ratty.......I just kind of asumed that bcs it was a kind of 'establishment' kind of thing, you'd be all for it and wouldn't take any criticism of it very well :? sorry if I misjudged you....

I can perfectly understand the relatives and friends of those who died, and the people who were injured, wanting and needing to mark the anniversary with remembrance services and things like that :( but I think for the whole country to grind to a halt, for it to be splashed all over the front pages of the newspapers and making the headlines in the news, like it's just happened, is a bit over the top and I don't see that it helps the families at all.......

It's as if that's the only atrocity and terrorist attack that matters to people in this country, people all over the world have died in their thousands in the last year but they hardly get a mention never mind a full scale rehash of how they died and who they were and who they left behind and all the rest of it :(

Yes, true : not all these people are terrorist, I'm agree with you but anyway, much of them hate we.
I'm sorry for to say this but I live in Italy where there are much foreigner people and I'm sorry for to say, but much of them are hating we, expecially Moroccan people.
I say this because happen to me, more one time, that some Moroccan said in my face that they hate we, they stay in Italy only for work but for the other, we are only s.....t for them and they don't like we and they are speaking bad against we every moment.
They are not killing we but anyway is strong the hate that they have against we, netherless they lives in my country.......

Is not so nice when somebody is living here, having all here and have this hate against you....I don't like it.

iam inclined to agree with you about the hatred some of these terrorist have for the west,They are just hypocrites&should be dealt with accordingly,the thing is my dear is that innocent and peace loving people like myself get alot of stick for nothing and if this goes on then a lot of people wioll feel isolated and let down,We have a saying back in africa2It takes two hands to clap"I think that both sides The western govt.&the ethnic minority leaders MUST Resolve this issues before it is too late.
