Hello all!
Im ecstatic at the moment as not only have i just lengthend my hoilday to Cairo this summer, but my best friend has also just booked her ticket to come with me for some of it!!
We're going to Sharm for a while, but will also be in Cairo. She's not really that interested in Egyptian history, although she would like to see the pyramids, sphinx etc, and she has always said she wants to visit "that market where you get me all my beautiful Egyptian jewerlly" (Khan el Khalili.) So apart from that, does anyone have any other ideas where i could take her?
Ooh, also shes pretty keen on seeing a belly dancing show, any recommendations?
Thanks!

You can also pay " Al Azhar Park" a visit :

:) Oh is that right Hoss ?
You are pretty confident lol !
Actually I dont have much time I am having to get up early tomorrow to catch a plane but I will do my best

Well Nadia I think Hoss knows me long enough that I can never resist a cry for help !

So my advice is
step one
Phone Bobboss
Step 2 Ask him to organise an outing
Step 3 Sit back and wait untill he comes to pick you up with his car lol

Joking aside I am sure he will help
but meanwhile here are some of my tips :

For souvenirs go to :
Khan Misr Toulun
Crafts, Cairo

This small, quirky store just in front of the entrance to the Mosque of Ibn Tulun sells handicrafts from all over Egypt. The quality of the goods is excellent. The shop is open daily 9-6 but is closed weekends in August.

Address: Shar'a Tulun Bay, Cairo, Egypt
Phone: 02/365-2227
You could have peek in the Mosque first its worth it

You could ride a camel in Giza ( or a horse )

To see allot at once go here at around sunset:

The tower is on the south end of Zamalek Island, and is within easy walking distance of the Cairo Museum - maybe 15 minutes or so, or you can take a taxi from the museum for about LE10-15. It's set in a pleasant park, and if you're interested in gardening, you'll love the flowers and plants. To go to the top costs LE35, but it is worth it, as you can linger in the revolving restaurant and enjoy the view without the wind.

As Hoss mentioned :
Don' t miss Al Azhar park and have lunch in the restaurant at the lake do this when you start to feel fed up with so many people around you or if its really hot but don't go in the weekends !

Here is a map you can study to familiarise a little with where things are:
http://www.touregypt.net/Map04.htm

If you want to see a less touristy place then Sharm you can go for the day to
Ain Sokhna its just over 1 and a half hours drive from Cairo and is much more Egyptian and allot cheaper the Sharm
Navigate around the site :
http://touregypt.net/featurestories/ainsoukhna.htm
and you will get the idea

Another hot day outing which is fun but pick the time and day right, go early and not in weekends if you can help it
The Pharaonic Village
3 El Bahr El Aazam St.
Giza, Egypt

You wanted see raw life in Cairo ?
Try this :

Mokattam, where the Zabbaleen - or garbage people - live

Here you can have some pre fun watching other peoples videos shot in Cairo

I said it before you can find lots of tips here :
http://youregypt.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=4

Then last but not least Ray has an excellent guide ::

Oh La la ! I see the time now I have to go

Yes, i am still very interested in photography in Cairo, and it's great now because as i am going for a longer time, i'll be in Cairo now when my father is there aswell. (Previously i was just going with my mum.) That means that he can take me to these places, and translate whatever people are saying etc!
Thanks for remembering, Hoss, any tips?
