location :England
Occupation: Transport
Interests:
Music; history; Christianity; rugby league
:!: Warning do not feel you have any obligation to answer these :!:
( but I would be thoroughly peed off  )
8) Since it looks like you will bear with us Explorer
( unlike Cave man who seems to have disappeared again :( )
its time we put you in the YE spotlight I will try to dim it though !
I have the feeling you are not too keen to be in the spotlight.
So far you have come across as someone who takes life seriously
I have not seen you smile much.. let alone laugh .
I do think you are more or less comfortable to go your own way
I have seen you plodding through YE all on your own , when nothing was happening and you were still very new here. I admire that .
How did you find us ? Why YE of all the forums around ?
What is your connection to Egypt?
What month were you born ?
What is your motto ?
" Explorer the eighth" , why did you choose this particular name
and why the eighth ?
Explorer do you Play rugby or have played it ? Or do you mean you like Rugby as a spectator?
"Transport" its an umbrella word for a lot of possibilities , in which direction should I think ?
For example you could be running a shipping company on the other hand you could be "The man with the van " ( somehow I can not imagine you in this scenario) and there is a lot in between..
History Historical romans were a passion for me but I do not enjoy reading about the dry facts.
Which history does your interest hold ?
Interest: "Christianity" could you elaborate some what ??
Music ; your preference is mostly classical and Rock :afro:
I had a look at your fav Rock bands :? and must admit did not recognize many of them so had to do some homework ...
Actually looking up the albums you mentioned... on the net and reading the lyrics.. and seeing from which ERA this music is... i feel I got to know you a little
You like very complex music and lyrics
BTW do you speak French ?
Your fav albums are :
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Safe as Milk
PINK FLOYD - Piper at the gates of dawn
KING CRIMSON - In the wake of Poseidon; Lizard; In the court of the crimson king; Islands
STORMY SIX - Al Volo; L'apprendista
GONG - Angel's Egg
This part of the lyrics appealed to me:
Love Is How You Make It
I left my body on my bed
I flew away inside my head
To dive right through the moon and find
A perfect world inside my mind
I want to take you there
Smiling through your hair
WEATHER REPORT - I sing the body electric
HENRY COW - Western Culture
ART ZOYD - Generations sans futur
UNIVERS ZERO - Ceux du dehors I LISTENED TO SOME OF THIS AND IT SOUNDED LIKE CONTEMPORARY CLASSIC ..not much like rock !
After listening to parts of these albums on the net
Explorer I find myself with a great array of questions...but I realize I would never get an answer
There is a saying ...show me your friends and I know who you are or something like that, 8) I believe the same could be said about music to some extend ...what do you think ?
Finally We seem to read the same news paper "The Daily Telegraph " I have it as my home page on my computer
 |

Dear Winky,
Thank you for your personal interest. It is very unexpected. In all the forums that I've used, I feel like someone on the outside looking in. I do believe that life is basically serious, but I do have a type of sense of humour which some people find difficult to understand.
This forum was recommended to me by Saffron who was trying out another totally unconnected forum that I like to use occasionally for humour. I have some true humorous stories and I like to comment on other people's and I like to read other people's amusing stories too, so I'm not all serious, but people need to get to know me.
I use the name Explorer when I am on any forum because when I had just bought a computer, I was exploring different sites and I like to learn and explore things anyway. The eighth is from the avatar of Henry the eighth which I use. He may not have been a moral man, but I do admire all the skills and abilities that he had. Perhaps Martin Luther would be a more suitable avatar, but I'm happy with King Henry now.
The nearest I've come to Egypt is when I ate a box of strawberries that were grown on Egyptian soil. I'm interested in all sorts of history including that of Egypt and from different time periods. I also have an interest in what the Bible says concerning Egypt and in the history. I'm glad that Saffron recommended YE because there is something to interest me here and there seem to be some decent people using the site.
You must be an explorer too because you have found some of the music I like on the internet. I've always been interested in trying out new music in my younger days. In the late 1970s and through the 1980s, I used to listen to music for hours in a day. Univers Zero has classical influences such as Stravinsky; Orff and Varese and they also have influences of Magma; Henry Cow and jazz rock.
I use the umbrella word "transport" on purpose because I usually prefer to be anonymous. If I say "railway" or "ships" or "buses" or "space shuttles" or if I say exactly what I do, that might give me away to others who either know me, or who work with me after they've put 2 and 2 together with the other things that are unique to me such as being a Christian (which is now rare in Britain today).
It is only recently that I have come to like watching rugby league, but it is more something to enjoy with other people who like to watch it. I don't speak French, but I've got a French/English dictionary among my large collection of wonderful books. I've got a book about ancient Egypt which has some wonderful art work in it from those times. I've visited the British museum which has the Elgin marbles and other amazing artefacts in it.
It tickles me when somebody takes an interest in me like this. I snigger to myself just thinking about it. I'm so used to being nearly invisible, so I quite enjoy the attention.
Do you use any other forums yourself?
Yours truly,
(Explorer the eighth) |

I met Explorer on a joke forum. I think he's nice and has a good sense of humor. One has to have a good sense of humor to be a member of the other forum we were using.

Dear Winky,
Thank you for your personal interest. It is very unexpected. In all the forums that I've used, I feel like someone on the outside looking in.
:) Oh explorer
I hope you will get a sense of belonging here , it can' t be nice to feel that way.
I do believe that life is basically serious, but I do have a type of sense of humour which some people find difficult to understand.
 So far I haven't found it difficult .
This forum was recommended to me by Saffron who was trying out another totally unconnected forum that I like to use for humour. I have some true humorous stories and I like to comment on other people's and I like to read other people's amusing stories too, so I'm not all serious, but people need to get to know me.
8) I would love to hear your stories Explorer I enjoy laughing , thankfully I tend to see the funny side of life so have at least a laugh a day !
If I were to meet you in a group of people you would not say much .
You would listen.. be polite and only speak when someone addresses you.
Your voice is soft and people will have to pay attention to hear you, am I correct ?
 I have a very close girlfriend like you, she is Bulgarian , I met her by chance at a party where we knew no one and the going language was one we had trouble with, so we were forced to spend allot of time together that evening and became firm friends.
She has a very interesting personality I would never have found out about she also is a fountain of knowledge about Ancient history if she would accompany you to the museum in Cairo she could tell you all about the background of what ever you see there, truly awesome .
I use the name Explorer when I am on any forum because when I had just bought a computer, I was exploring different sites and I like to learn and explore things anyway. The eighth is from the avatar of Henry the eighth which I use. He may not have been a moral man, but I do admire all the skills and abilities that he had. :) I read many historical romans about Henri the eighth a very fascinating character indeed !
My only connection to Egypt is through my interest in the Bible which mentions Egypt.
8) I recommend you visit Cairo I think you would enjoy it greatly .
It has allot to offer.I can say that especially now that I know what interests you
I might occasionally have eaten a box of strawberries that were grown in Egypt, and I'm interested in the history. I'm glad that Saffron recommended YE because there is something to interest me here.
:D Me too welcome again
What is the "something" what interests you ?
You must be an explorer too because you have found some of the music I like on the Internet. I've always been interested in trying out new music in my younger days. In the late 1970s and through the 1980s, I used to listen to music for hours in a day. Univers Zero has classical influences such as Stravinsky; Orff and Varese and they also have influences of Magma; Henry Cow and jazz rock.
 I suppose yes I am an explorer I have always traveled around the world and have to pack my bags again soon, am interested in a wide variety of subjects, research allot on the net and also like exploring the mind .
I can not live without music it's on as soon as I am finnished listening to the news
:) I know exactly what you mean Explorer this is why I do not like to reveal certain things about myself not because someone who knows me in real life would find out who I am, since I can not imagine anyone who I know being a member of a forum let alone this one, hahaha they would not have the time or interest in it .
I have my own reasons for it and I do not see why I Should reveal private things about myself just to satisfy someones curiosity.I did show some of my photos so that people at least have some inkling who I am together with my posts of course.
It is only recently that I have grown to like watching rugby league. My uncle has the full Sky package and I watch it at his house when I go there to visit him. I don't speak French, but I've got a French/English dictionary among my large collection of wonderful books. I've got a book about ancient Egypt which has some wonderful art work in it from those times. I've visited the British museum which has the Elgin marbles and other amazing artefacts in it.
:!: You MUST come to Cairo you will be in heaven !!
What do you enjoy reading about ?
As soon as I was able to read, one could find me with a book or climbing a tree.
It tickles me when somebody takes an interest in me.
:( I know you did not mean to, but it makes me sad that you say this, well I am interested, so whatever you like to share please keep talking .
I snigger to myself just thinking about it. I'm so used to being nearly invisible, so I quite enjoy the attention.
 In that case you will get as much as you can take
Do you use any other forums yourself?
:smt018 No Explorer this is my first, my only and my last forum I have and will ever join .
I have been accused of remembering things about members here, well the reason is that I only read YE and so I know the members here, this way it has more value to me but in a way I regret ever having started posting
Since once you do, it becomes a strange sort of addiction, hard to kick and it does take away from other things I should be doing .
Yours truly,
I like you Explorer :)
I look at "yours truly" here and think: You must be such a decent man what a shame someone ( In your own environment) has not discovered you yet .

I forgot to answer Winky's question about having a motto.
When things seem to be going wrong, I sometimes think to myself, "If it can go wrong, it will and it does."
There are certain short phrases that I often say when something annoys me or catches me by surprise, such as
"Oh no" or
"I'm sick of sneezing" or
"Not those adverts again" or
"If there's one thing I hate it's turds". |
