:) It is absolutely gorgeous Hedge , I was only able to dip in it, because I am having problems with the connection since midday and am now using my slow telephone connection it is like watching paint dry
Its not the router, I tried everything, such a pain !!!
:) I will look at the sites again once I am back on the fast connection , I used to live in Sussex, also nice countryside but where you are is exceptional beautiful and one can under take many interesting trips it seems .
So are you planning something special for Tuesday ??
 |

Well! Ahem! nervous coughing coz its an interview lol
Cairo is grossly overpopulated, very dry, dusty hot and humid, especially at the height of summer! Winter has very little rain and the weather, for me was still uncomfortably warm for working in and traveling around!
Alex is some degrees cooler! primarily a holiday escape for many ppl, native to Cairo, especially during summer and Egyptian holiday times.
Alex oh! :smt062 Alex, its multi faceted architecture is breath taking. As are its views out to sea! Its cooling sea breezes are so refreshing on a hot summer's day and make one feel relaxed and stress free. Winter's great! Some storms and quite heavy rain at times, reminds me of England and is a welcome relief after the hot summer months here for an Englander like myself. Its nice and cool, yet nowhere near as cold as England bbbrrr!
There's shops to die for! Just like there are in Cairo, but theres no breezes in Cairo!
I live in a holiday resort and in winter its virtually empty, durinfg winter! it doesn't hold the traditional western necessities (which i definitely don't need in my life!)
Clubs, Pubs and other touristics domains. These u will find downtown about an hour's drive from my peaceful haven!
OMG! I am in love with Alexandria! |

:) This is the third time I am responding to your post each time something happened and I had to abort my attempt :)

Oh Poppy thats so nice to read you are happy there you realise you could meet up with Science sailor he will show you around no doubt, lived his whole life there :) apart from a few years in the States.
You know that I also live on the Med :) Very close to Gibraltar and the same happens here now, its September and the tourists, most of them have left and the place is quiet again.
:) But to be honest I prefer the buzz of Cairo, the people, the liveliness, the cultural choices etc. but indeed the heat is not so good and the smog even worse.
I have lived too long in quiet places around the world ,at the time it suited me, but now I have other interests again, the quietest was the middle of an African jungle ( Gabon) for half a year.
If I wanted to go to a shop I had to go by ( very small) plane.. every Sunday night I sat and wrote a shopping list which was send together with my two big cool boxes to the capital , someone would do the shopping and then the next Saturday I would find my cool boxes in my car port with the groceries often minus half of what had been on the list because something was not in season anymore or sold out
My excitement would come from an elephant on the road in front of me or finding dung  at the edge of the lake which I would scoop up and put in my garden :) or finding out that the monkeys stole all the bananas from my trees !!
Anyway it was fun at the time but am ready for people and culture now !
 |
