Roman walls unearthed in Luxor

Segments of Roman walls surrounding Luxor and Karnak temples have been discovered, announced the Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni.

He added that the two walls were built by the Romans early in the second century when Luxor Temple was turned into a Roman army camp.

Commenting on the subject, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Zahi Hawass, stated that blocks of sandstone were uncovered during cleaning operations.

Egyptian archaeologists went on to discover a ground surface built from red stone, thus dating it back to the Greek era.
