........how Egy boards and the people on them keep changing.....
I never used to post here at ALL, in fact I never even bothered reading it, bcs so much of it was in arabic and I got this funny feeling that if you didn't speak arabic, you might as well just forget it, nobody was really that interested in you unless you did  OK, some people made an attempt to translate, but that really just made it even more difficult to follow
I just had a look at another board, and the really strange thing is I got this feeling of deja vu
I honestly think a forum has to choose what language it's based on, and stick to it, either that or stop making claims that the forum is international and everyone is welcome. In fact, I think for the admins of a forum to say one minute, come and join us, and then to make post after post in what to many members is a foreign language, is pretty contradictory and unwelcoming.
I won't be posting there again anyway.......and even if YE is a pretty small, select bunch of posters at the moment, at least we all understand each other (most of the time :o ) and I like it.
(I might lurk there though ) |

| You know Moll I was thinking the exact same thing this afternoon. There is one particular thread that started off really well and now I can't understand a word of it, and before you ask, no this is not a 'blonde day'! |

I'm glad someone else understands how frustrating it is.........
personally, I think it's the equivalent of whispering in company, it's just plain rude. |

well, I can sort of understand that, harrison........it's their country and their language and you're outnumbered
I don't think that would really bother me, as long as I didn't feel it was ME they were talking about, or if they tried to include me sometimes  and at least in real life you can sort of communicate with each other with smiles and body language and stuff like that...
I just think a web based form of communication should have one language, for most of the time anyway, maybe a few arabic words now and again wouldn't mean that you couldn't get the gist of it, but for whole topics to start off in English and then end up completely in arabic.......
They might as well just write it in arabic if you ask me.......but nobody is so I'll shut up about it now  |
