This is the Official Website for Dr. Zahi Hawass. I love this man.

Zahi Hawass is presently the Undersecretary of the State for the Giza Monuments. He was the General Director of the Giza Pyramids and Saqqara and Bahria Oasis from 1987-98. In 1998, he was promoted to the Undersecretary position.

I came back home yesterday from business trip, very exhausted but there was a TV show interviewing the man on his birthday... I so happy to hear him saying this .. "your birthday is the day you make a difference to the world"... this man has 365 BDs/year as said by the presetner.

Every Hawass’ appearance is a joy for me, he is capting my attention with his flow of knowledge, his passion for Egypt, his expresivity and his ability to establish an emotionally connecttion with the persons who is listening to him.
I love him specially for his campaign to bring back the artefacts stolen from Egypt. 8)

Here there is a recently ample article appeared in The Sunday Times Magazine about him. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2099-1610673_1,00.html

Can somebody explain to me why most Egyption people are so pre occupied with peoples religion....
I have never been asked as many times 'what is your religion?' as I have been in Cairo
It does not matter...Why is it so important?

Its the person, not the religion that matters

U know why? because some people used to judge others by religion, or race, or color, or many other things..

Strange, mmm, but this is the case all over the world.

Zahi is Muslim ya Ausar, but this don't change anything, he is really a well educated man, nice speaker and I like him so much.

Zahi is quite a famous name among watchers of History Channel even here in America. he is in every program on Ancient Egypt. It never occurred to me what his religion is. his stories of ancient Egypt are captivating as he has lots of passion for what he does. Why bother, what his religion is??? :?:

Jaguar, it does not matter to be if Hawass is Copt or Muslim really. I was just curious because I had heard many people tell me Hawass was a Copt. Just was not out of judgement of the man because I was just curious.

I like Hawass sometimes but many times I feel Hawass is trying to hide things about Egypt's past. He sometimes comes across as an arrogant man with an agenda. The way he did Joanne Fletcher I feel was a little out of chracter. Just my opinion on the matter.

I have never meet Hawas personally so I can't really comment on his personality.

This is an Dr. Hawass exclusive interview for Tour Egypt.

http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/hawassinterview.htm

The issues discussed are: the importance of the latest discoveries concerning the circumstances in which Tutankhamun died, the official position of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) on the delicate question of the return of antiquities from abroad; the latest discoveries about "the most beautiful mummies ever discovered”; the safty in Egypt; the rules for Egyptologists (the reasons for the misunderstanding between the Supreme Council and some Egyptologists about their theories -e.g. the Fletcher's case, and the two French amateur Egyptologists who want to drill holes in the Pyramid).

Dr. Hawass' date of birth is 28.05.1947. With this occasion all my well wishings goes to him and may all his good wishes come true! I don't know if he will ever read this message but I hope my good thoughts will reach him somehow.
