On a more positive note this time :lol:
I would like to pose a question to the forum on Egypt.
What is is that you most love about Egypt?
For me it's:
1 - The weather 8)
2 - The people :lol:
3 - The atmosphere :D
4 - The non-stop buzz :shock:
5 - The Food :P
6 - The places to go in Cairo and have fun :?:
7 - The diversity of society and culture :shock:
8 - The moderness :idea:
9 - The tourist sights to see :shock:
10 - It feels like home :lol:
11 - coffee :P
There you go, those were my top 11 reasons :lol: |

Well well Mr. Sphinx...well well. well..
You hit a chord here...so I promise you one thing you will get many of my posts every time I think of what i like most or love most about Egypt...so I'm going to get my coffee (it's 6:35 am here) and back with this enthusiastically..and yes I love Egyptian coffee...

guys, i'm afraid i dont drink coffee :alien: hehe..))) but it surprisingly doesnt prevent me from lovin' Egypt)))
well... strange as it might seem, the thing i adore most about Egypt is its ability 2 amaze me every time i visit it or read about it... there is always something new & unexpected 2 discover about the country & the people... i'm sure i will never be disappointed at lackin' of "unknown Egypt"...
one more thing is feelin' comfortable most of the time i stay there... despite all the misunderstandings & differences between our cultures they often seem 2 have a good number of common features, imho) i like observin' & Egypt is a wonderful item, indeed)
this forum was one of the latest discoveries))) i guess i can thank u 4 that))) \:D/ |

Sandra...did you check the thread about belly dancing Costumes I thik it's in the people and cross culture section..check it out..
THINGS I LOVE ABOUT EGYPT:
The kindness of the people of Egypt
The fooooooood
The smells in the street ..all of them the good the bad and the ugly..wallahy...
The weather
The variety of cultures in one country
My own beautiful memories
The craziness of traffic
The history
The monuments
The streets
DOWNTOWN Soliman pasha...
and more and more...be back

Being able to shop after 5.30 pm (everything closes then in England)
The wonderful variety of fruits
Carrots (they are the best tasting carrots in the world)
Kanafa cakes (home made without too much sigar)
Friday's evening call to prayer
The Nile
The Mountain that holds the Valley of the Kings
Lazing about on the river
Being kissed as a greeting
Being kissed as a farewell
Constant sunshine
Elecrical storms (without rain)
Donkeys
Cats
Lizards
the list could go on for miles |

In addtition to some of the things already posted I would add:
Sharm El Sheik (more specifically Sharks Bay)
Snorkeling in the Red Sea
Being able to afford a cleaning lady
Not feeling like the lone stranger wearing Hijab
The Syrian Bakeries
Being able to buy just about anything I need from my balcony
Having my political and religious beliefs understood by the majority and not the minority
Turkish Coffee
Walking the streets late at night and not having to fear anything
The sidewalk cafes along the Corniche in Alex

ps I know you asked for 10 but I also have to include having fresh mint available for tea at most places :) |

oh..oh... I remember something I really love:
The sound of the guy that sells old stuff and collects old stuff :
ROBBA BECCHIAAAAAAAAA------>>>>
Which comes from an italian expression that means: OLD STUFF ( pronouced in italian Roba vechhia)

And...also the fact that I can order groceries by telephone and get eactly what I order, plus free goodies ( a little cookie and a chocolate he he he) compliments of the grocer...he he he..
oh oh oh...sandwiches: kebda eskandarany...falafel hot and very oily hihihi....
oh oh oh oh...the taste of Chicken and eggs...very different from here...
