Hello I have been a registered member for a year now. Been reading on and off some threads. Now I feel like posting.
My name is bitsy. I am Egyptian. Today I feel proud. Mubarak did something unusual. He gave Egyptians the right to be normal. No more silly forced votes for the same government . An opportunity has arised.
Other individuals can be candidates. Wooow that is cool news.
Let me spill my beans...OOOF what a smell...'It was a very shameful situation for years and years'. I think it's time for a NEW ERA. Egypt will rise again!

I'm not Egyptian, bitsy, but I AM an Egypt lover....and I think it's wonderful that Egyptians will actually have a choice of candidates in the next election and that hopefully democracy is going to be the way ahead for Egypt, it's a historic day :shock:
welcome to YE anyway, bitsy, I only started posted here recently too, but I'm getting kind of addicted now :oops: |

Hi Bitsy! :) Welcome to YE! I also, have been registered for awhile, but have just started posting!
I have to say that I was surprised,but not really shocked at the announcement! Being an American, nothing seems to shock me any more where politics are concerned! I would like to feel that President Mubarak was sincere, and that his decision was based on concern for democratic reform, the people and what is best for the country. Maybe it was just bad timing, that this announcement was made immediatly following Condoleezza Rice, canceling her trip to Egypt next week. Just recently, it had been decided , that even discussing any changes about open elections would be postponed until after Septembers presidential referendum!
So personally, I do have doubts, but my love for this country and the people help to keep my faith! |

I agree with you ya Hani. I kinda wonder who'd dare run against El Presidente anwyays! It would be someone who's part of the show most likely :lol: |
