Highly recommended Christmas movie for adults: BAD SANTA (2003)

Box Office worldwide: $62MM
Hear! Hear! This is not a Christmas movie about bad guy Santa who stopped drinking and abusing his reindeer after meeting Macaulay Culkin . This is not a sickly-sweet Christmas fairy tale for kids.
No, this one is about Real Santa and real means a burglar released from a jail, who drinks to excess and f***s everything that moves, no matter whether a girl is fat or slim, angelic looking or dog-ugly.
Plot:Billy Bob Thornton’s hero gets a temporary job as Santa Claus in a big supermarket, because he and his queer buddy and co-worker Marcus (whose height is 107 cm ) are planning a robbery.
Besides Santa is always drunk and stinks, he also has a bad habit of having sexual encounters with female customers at supermarket toilets and to make things worse he prefers to enter back door… No doubt it’s cool, but somehow undermines supermarket reputation . And so on…
Facts: 1)This movie nearly beat Pulp Fiction by frequency of using *F* word: 271 F-words in Pulp Fiction vs. 170 in Bad Santa. Unfortunately, Bad Santa was censored which resulted in decrease of F-words (only 147 left)
2)Initially the leading role was offered first to Jack Nicholson and then to Bill Murray. My opinion is that B. B. Thornton is more authentic as Bad Santa.
Rating : 10 out of 10 if you have soft spot for Angelina Jolly’s ex and black comedies. |
