hi all
coming to luxor on 5th jan ...yippee
just wanted to know if anyone has any info on the oasis hotel in cairo as we are thinking of staying there for a couple days
been to egypt twice all ready and still have not seen the pyramids
any info on hotel , location , price of taxis,how far from train station etc etc would be great !!
any and all info welcome

Not a bad 3* hotel... considered cheap, but clean.
It is in Heliopolis, about 10 km from Cairo Train Station...
Nice pub on ground floor... food is OK... friendly staff.
Over-Night train to luxor is great...

when you say train is good do you mean sleeper or the french/spanish 1 ?
as we are thinking of taking the french/spanish 1 :)

we are going for 2 weeks 5th to 19th
be great to meet up whilst we are there :)
we fell in love with maxims last year
been reading a couple new ones opened up
pirates ? was 1 you heard of it ?
get a bit bored with same places all the time ..........
but they are nice :) |

well gary .. there are 2 hotels with this name not one ...
1st one in Heliopolis & it's 5 seconds away from my home .... in Ard El Gold & it's like 20 min driving from Train station ....
SECOND ONE (which i think you're stayin in) it's in Pyramids Area ... and this one is much better than the one above .. it's in the very begining of Cairo-Alx desert Road .. so i guess it's 30 min from Cairo station & 20 min from Giza Station ...

The Spanish 1 is good and clean. For Egyptians, the difference between the normal and the sleeper is only about L£ 20 (I think) , if that applies to you, you might as well take the sleeper (a meal included)...
Be careful, it is very cold inside the train....

yes your right its the 2nd 1 near the pyramids

says the do a shuttle bus to the museum as well !

i thought the sleeper was 50 DOLLARS ?
and spanish 1st class worked out about LE 70
yes ive heard its cold as well im still not sure wot train to take but we are staying 2 nites at oasis too so spose either 1 will do .............
but i do like a bargain :D |
