Is that an Egyptian cut you have now???
did you know that in some families they would not cut the hair of their baby boys for many years against the evil eye ...not to let anyone know he was a he, and not a she...
anyone knows more about this part of the 'culture' or was that only in the arabic movies?? |

Edward Lane mentions this occurance in his Manners and Customs of the Modern Egyptians Another pratice was to not clean the child so the spirits would be fooled also. |

| I don't believe in the evil eye and such superstitions, the evil eye is however a common design in many middle eastern household items such as my own. My hair now is very short but not buzzcut short. I remember when I had a buzzcut one time and it was not a good impression upon certain people due to the fact that I was traveling from America (they considered it an American military hairstyle). My hair is all gone...But I still have my stylin Zorro goatee...It is a mark of my terror. :smt070 |
