| Can somebody inform me more about a story I recently read in the BBC webpage about doctors using poor Cairene residents for guineapigs. Help me understand more about this evil pratice because I was completely unaware of any such pratices that went on. Please note that some reform has probabaly occured since the news story I read was over 2 years old! Sad to hear things like this happening within Egypt. |

I know there are “professional patients” … do you wonder what does this mean?
Ok, I will tell you … there are patients with some chronic diseases who offer their services for training undergraduate doctors who are required to show their skills in diagnosis at some practical tests.
So the students who are required to “bring their own patients” diagnose the patient in front of the professor and get marks for it. The interesting thing is that such patients usually have exact knowledge about their diseases and they would give you the Latin name for it, that is of course if you paid well :0) |
