Dreaming
Your hands skimming along the rough bark, gripping
As you lay on your back looking up through the leaves.
Sky concealed from your soul-stirring eyes
Melting, molding, becoming part of the tree.
Dreaming.
Me on my tummy, limbs dangling over the gurgling water
Looking down at the never-ending flow.
Flowing below us, between us, from us.
Life moving along in its endless cycle.
Dreaming.
Your back arching, stretching like a cat.
Absolute quiet except for the rushing of the brook,
Call of the chickadees as they search for their mates.
Your far-away eyes seeing beyond into another time.
Dreaming with me.
I drop leaves into the wetness below, one by one
Watching as they lazily twirl toward the flow
Landing oh so gently, then floating away
To become part of the stream bed, recycled - yet existing in our minds still.
Dreaming together.
Touching your fingertips to mine so softly - barely there.
Locking gazes as you turn slowly onto your stomach.
A meeting of minds, of hearts, of flesh
Understanding with no need of words,
Dreaming as one.

Land of Wind and Wildflowers
Step through the cabin door
Into another realm.
The land of wind and wildflowers
Noble mountains these.
Meander down gently-sloping, winding paths,
Or choose the straight, but Herculean uphill climb
The choice is not clear,
But must be made.
Enter the sun-kissed meadow,
Roll in the many-hued grasses.
Be one with the natural world as you
Join in this dream-like reality.
Feel the change in air as you wind around the mountain,
Cool, cold then warm again.
Look down upon the eagles,
Soaring majestically, far, far below.
Walk through the clouds,
Becoming part of the mist
As the mountain bares its gray, granite heart
Revealed through its skin.
Dare to follow the brown bear,
As it forages for food,
Unconcerned with your presence.
It is not the season for cubs.
Laugh as you view
Deer tails waving like white flags of surrender
As they spring away.
From your scent.
