Thank you hedgehog and Harrison, one of these days I might just take you up on those offers.....
I'm not really a lying about on the beach type, I just get bored and burn  but this has been such a sh*t week, just one hassle after another  I'd have jumped on the first plane going ANYWHERE if I could.
I'd really like to visit the Red Sea sometime though. |

Well the invitation is open anytime you want to come, just let me know.
I am the same Moll, I so don't just lie on the beach. I am in the water until my skin turns even more prune-like than usual. :)
Yes the temp has dropped to 33 today - what a relief! |

Okay you are invited as well Ricky - why haven't you been here?
What other places have you visited in Egypt? What were your favourites? |

Ricky - why haven't you been to Egypt? I am sure you have been to other parts of the world - tell us about them.
Poppy are you living in Cairo? If you are - for how long? |

Well I lived in Tunisia for around 6/8 months in 200.
Then went back to the UK. Where I am from and then decided to leave and live and work in Egypt. :farao:
Which I did, from Oct 2003 until July 2007. When I made the mistake of coming to Montreal.
But, will leave there on 12th Sept 2008 and fly to Turkey. To teach English on a long term contract. I just cannot wait to board the plane!
The time can't pass by quickly enough for me now.
And, of course I know in my heart that eventually I will return to Egypt. Actually, I have promised my friend (an Arabic Teacher) I will join her for my 2 week's paid holiday there, (from Turkey) As its just across the Med! :D |

If it isn't too personal, why don't you like Montreal? That is a shame you are not enjoying your time there but hopefully once you start you new contract you will be happier.
When we first came to Egypt of course eveything was new and wonderful. After a time things started to pall. We went back to the UK for a vacation in 2006 and couldn't wait to get back here. I can't see us ever living anywhere else but Egypt.
I wake up every morning and the sun is shining, people are more relaxed - which does take a bit of getting accustomed to I must admit, I have the beautiful Red Sea as my playground. The only thing that spoils this idyllic life is that I work 6 days a week, which is the norm here.
Oh well I suppose I can't have everything in life and it was my decision to work instead of staying at home. |

Yes, I do remember everyone working six days a week! With Friday being the religious day off. Turkey is also a Muslim country, this is one of the reasons I choose to go there.
I suppose I was lucky in Egypt. Both in Alex and in Cairo (schools) I got the whole weekend off!
In Istanbul, I will get out of teaching noisy (but oh! so sweet kids!) and will teach only adults. Working for a company, thats established in about 61 different countries, worldwide. Now that I'm a fully qualified ESL Teacher, but I must work SIGH! six days a week, just as you do. I really don't care, I'm sure I will adjust quickly enough. As I'm sure you did too Harrison.
Please remind me to PM you, after I leave Montreal in Sept 08. I will disclose some info about this country and its cultural beliefs and values. Which, in comparison to Egypt. Or, even the UK will be an eye opener. |

Hello Poppy,
It's really interesting to see that you came back posting on YE. You probably do not know me, but I know you from your posts...I happen to share something with Harrison ( Hello Harrison :smt039 ) which is being curious to know your thoughts and experience with Montreal or Canada as a whole...I am asking because I have know of some opinions about Canada as a whole, from a short personal experience and from friends who have applied for immigration and did not go on with it... |

Harrison,
I did not have a chance to visit Middle East in general.
I have been to USA, Canada, Mexico, UK, some CIS countries (Estonia, Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine), Russia. Not a huge list yet but planning to expand it quite a bit. |
