One of the things that surprises me is the lack of knowledge about the national heroes and prominent figures of the Egyptian history among the population. If any one, for example, questions about which one was the most famous heroe in Egyptian history it might receive the answer that this was without doubt Salah al-Din al Ayoubi, though he was of kurdish origin. I think this is influenced by cinema and by the crazy wave of panarabism after the fifthties. So, many people ignore figures such as Mentuhotep, Ahmosis, Amasis, Imhotep, Ptahotep, and many others that represented true Egyptian people.

The education of the character of the children is one of the most important things, and that it is achieved through the social models, the heroes, kings, noblemen and wise people are the main reference. This is what modells the national spirit

In spite that it is said that the Egyptians are the ones who have more clear sense of national identity than any other Arab nation, a recent statistics proves that this is true only for 25% of the population, the other 75% has not clear idea whether they are Egyptians, Arabs or just members of the Umma. And this data is fundamental: it shows the total failure of the educational system for raising a clear nation identity.

Could you imagine a human being that does not know himself, that does not understand his origin and role in life? That type of human being will find very difficult the task of planning his future and finding a right place among the other human beings, and besides this he will be easily manipulated and dominated by the others.

If you say that you are a duck, but you do not look like a duck, you do not sing like a duck and you do not walk like a duck, probably you are not a duck. And if you persist in believing that you are so, then my friend your future will be a hell.

So, Arab Republic of Egypt? It might be… who knows
