I wish to quote from a news letter that I have in my possession which is based on a book that I have ordered from a local shop. The book is called "The Marketing of evil" and it was written by the theologian David Kupelian. Before I give the quote, I will say that evil is everywhere, but this book focuses on how it manifests itself in the so-called western nations.
"South Africa is not the only nation which is battling against immorality and crime. The whole Western world is likewise afflicted and is standing helpless in the face of spiralling depravity. David Kupelian has studied the causes of this and comes to the conclusion that the Western world, and the USA in particular, has fallen victim to a negative campaign of the most sophisticated and advanced kind."
Kupelian writes: "As Americans, we've come to tolerate, embrace and even champion many things that would have horrified our parents' generation. Things like abortion-on-demand virtually up to the moment of birth; judges banning the Ten Commandments from public places; a national explosion of middle-school sex; the slow starvation of the disabled; thousands of homosexuals openly flouting the law and getting 'married'; and on-line por^nography creating late-night sex addicts in millions of middle-class homes."
The newsletter says: "The marketing of evil consists of a three stage strategy: desensitization; jamming and conversion.
"At first, people are desensitized. Something immoral is presented to them in a positive and inoffensive way - so often and so much that at last they become tired of arguing and resign themselves to it.
"Secondly, the people who expose the evil and defend Christian morality are jammed. Jamming is a kind of psychological terror. Those who dare stand for truth are targeted, discredited and falsely accused of wrongdoing.
"The third stage is conversion: 'a planned psychological attack on the average American's emotions, mind and will, in the form of propaganda fed to the nation via the media.'
"As soon as Secular Humanism asserted itself in South Africa, this nation's covenants were overturned. The 'fear of the Lord' is no longer recognised as the 'beginning of knowledge'. Instead schoolchildren are taught multicultural atheism."
The newsletter has two sides of A4 paper detailing this issue and its consequences. Here is one example:
"Focussing on children, David Kupelian describes the fearful exploitation of teenagers by internation big business. They want to be cool, they are impressionable and they have the cash."
This news letter is from the Gospel Defence league. On the other two A4 pages, we are shown how the death penalty and real punishment for crime are based on Christian principles. The article is taken from a book called "Biblical Principles for Africa" by Dr Peter Hammond. |

| Does this article imply that Christians are the only ones exposed to "immorality and crime?" Does it imply that these evils exist only in Western society? |

Evil is everywhere and in all societies, but this is a new form of it taking shape in western cultures at this time. If it continues to grow and if it becomes more extreme, it will then become active persecution and it will become very difficult or impossible to be a Christian - in the way that it was under communism or fascism and even as it is in some extreme Moslem states now.
There are some really evil non-western societies out there in the world and the persecution of Christians is worse in many of them than it used to be in the Roman Empire before Constantine. |

I like that desensitisation part you mention Explorer. It seems to be very true. It seems many people are trying to live their own lives without worrying about the moral values of society and to continually having to fight an issue one is not guilty of and still fight one's own personal battles just tires one out into being just tolerant of what one thinks is wrong.
I think though when one no longer cares about society moral values, one is in effect compounding one's own personal issues and estranging oneself from the backup of society to help overcome ones own issues through a common democratic consensus.
It would perhaps not be wise to concentrate so much on ones own life, but rather the social environment around it in a broader sense, to indirectly influence the outcome of the personal evils one has to face.
Yet so many people do not stand up to the promiscuity of base humanity and it leads me to wonder if the strength of spiritual recognition(Christianity, Islamitism....Louise(not the religion Louise, just a remark to you ;)) People in my opinion are also being taught that they are their own creators of this universe, and its flaw is that it is seperating our unity by making us proud of we ourselves are. Yet we have no clue about spirituality by ourselves. |
