I've never really understood the position fundamentalist Muslims take on music, because I've always felt that religious music can make me feel closer to God and I always loved some of the old traditional hymns in the church.......I can't be doing with all the modern happy clappy stuff you get nowadays, but the old hymns of worship that my parents and my grandparents and all the generations before them would have known, make me feel like part of something.
What made me think about this was, last week when we were in Venice, it seemed like quite a lot of the old churches (and there seemed to be millions of them) have been turned into concert venues and we went to a couple of them :-({|= I like most kinds of music, I like modern music but I like more classical stuff too.........anyway, the first one we went to was Vivaldi, it was OK :? the second one we went to was more operatic stuff, and it was so beautiful sitting there, listening to the tenor and the soprano, I started thinking maybe there IS a God after all...... |

I have always been against human theatrics to persuade me there is a God Moll. I prefer to feel there is God because He cares for me no matter how bad I at times may be, He seems to help me pick up the pieces of my life I myself destroyed.
As long as I believe in His goodness, He strangely enough seems prepared to improve who I am and help me on my sometimes not so merry way. |
