| We need to realise that the expressions "Son of God" and "My Father in Heaven" are anthropomorphisms. Christ is not a literal son in the sense that we know it here in this world, but the expression is an accommodation to our understanding. There is an economic Trinity in that the Holy Spirit precedes from the Son and the Son precedes from the Father. There is only one true God, but God has three persons. The expression "persons" is also an anthropomorphism. |

An anthropomorphism is the representation of God, or the conception of God in either the form, personality or attributes of Man. This is done because there is no other way to help us in our understanding. Nobody can truly understand God as He is in any absolute way. In the Old Testament, we read of "the hand of God", or "God's anger", or "the heart of God", but these are examples of how God was revealed to us to help our limited understanding. For example, God does not have a hand as such. |
