I'd never been to Italy at all until a couple of years ago, and since then I've been to Rome (liked it a lot, only I was with friends and I'd rather have been with my husband, bcs they kept wanting to stop and look at leaves on trees and things :roll: and you know how sometimes, it's not until you go on holiday with people your realise you don't really have the same interests)......and then to Florence, loved it, and last weekend to Milan 8)

And we're going to Venice in April, I'm really looking forward to that...

So I'm getting quite a taste for Italy, I think I like it as much as France and nearly as much as Egypt 8)

I have a Dream
to book for a summer Voyage
visiting the Lands of my Ancestors: Turky (Istanpool is enough)

then
the Lands of the Founder of my City (Alexander the Great/Alexandria): Greece (Athens is enough)

then the Lands of the Romans who spreaded the Roots of the western Civilization out of the few Greek cities to the rest of the European continent.
Unlike Turky & Greece
I love to visit the whole of Italy
each place has a certain attraction in my immagination
Palermo where the Sicilians are the closest European neigbors to us
Napoli could be like Alexandria, and Sophia Loren printed the scenes of that city in several movies of hers
Rome is like an outdoor Museum
everywhere I will be able to see Roman Monuments
Venice, with those famous boats and the Romance that should be going on in there especially at night (with the sailor giving us his back)
Genoa/Milan, as I lived most of my life in industrial surroundings I don't think I need to visit either one of them
The countryside of central/northern Italy (Dense Plantations with Green color) in the movies fascinates me
I may take a train and then enjoy taking video movies of whatever areas the train may pass through.

my Dream is to have a Mideteranian Cruise in summer time
the Mideteranian in most of the Summer time is quiet without the Violent winter sea storms.
Travel agencies announce about such Mideteranian Cruise in the summer time
It will be a nice rewarding beginning of my retirement years.
And costwise should not be a problem to me.

SeaBird, I think we may be two sides of the same coin 8)

I don't know if you'll understand that expression in English, it means we're coming at this from two opposite directions but coming to the same conclusion, basically it means we agree 8)

Just as you react emotionally to reading the contempt shown towards Islam/Muslims on American boards, I react emotionally towards the contempt/misunderstandings I read on some boards towards non-Muslims. I used to be pretty interested in all that kind of stuff, I used to get into some pretty heated debates about it all........then I realised that for some people, it's not about debate at all.

So now, I just don't get involved, I don't bother even trying to 'discuss' unless I think there are reasonable people at the other end, and unfortunately, there often aren't, and you're wasting your breath bothering. So why do you rub salt into the wound by reading these boards? They'll only drive you mad.........

Anyway, to get back to the original topic..........
I LIKE Italy, I don't feel it has any personal ties to me, like Egypt does, but I like what I've seen of it so far....I like the sunshine, the sense of history, there's a lot to like about it 8) In fact, basically I like anywhere that isn't Scotland :oops: NOT because I don't love my country, I do.........but I love getting away from it too.
