The complex was completed in 1474 by late Burgi
Mamluk Sultan Al-Ashraf
Qaitbay.
It is one of the most beautiful of the Mamluk era and is actually
the best surviving example of the Mamluk art. Qaitbay was
a very active Sultan in terms of construction. He left many
monuments and urged his emirs
to build.
The complex is rich with workmanship. The mosque's dome is
well carved and has a unique design and so is also its high
minaret .
The complex in general is not to be missed.
